TOURISM, ITS SOCIO-ECONOMIC & ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS | Workshop

The Canadian Institute of Technology hosted an international workshop focused on the socio-economic and environmental impacts of tourism from a sustainable development perspective. The event brought together academics, experts, researchers, and students to exchange perspectives on the future of sustainable tourism and its increasing global relevance.

The workshop was led by Arben Asllani and Elizabeth Bell, engaging 22 undergraduate students from Tennessee Technological University and CIT through presentations, case study analyses, and interactive discussions.

Representatives from partner institutions, including University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Tirana, and experts from Institute of Education, Heritage & Tourism, delivered keynote addresses and shared insights on development frameworks, knowledge institutions, and sustainable tourism practices.

Master’s students from CIT and the Department of Sociology at the University of Tirana presented research and innovative approaches addressing tourism challenges, environmental responsibility, and the role of information and communication technologies in advancing sustainable tourism development.
